Basic Design Tips

These tips are my opinion.

First, layout should be simple. Keep it easy to read and easy to navigate.
The background I used on this page is very busy. It would be very hard to read
text written on it. So, I used a table with a similar color background. It is much
easier to read the text.

Use images sparingly. Make thumbnails in image galleries or use text links. Whole
images take a very long time to load. When making this page, I have used only
two images. The layout is simple, maybe even a little boring, but it is easy to
navigate and easy to read.

When using backgrounds, use text that contrasts. If you use blue text with a blue
background, no one is going to be able to read it. Also, don't make the links the
same color as the text. Don't use huge text. Size 12 (3) is fine. It is readable, and
not annoying.

If you use frames, be sure you offer a no-frames option. There are people who can't
see frames.

"Splash" (click here to enter) pages are very annoying. Only use one if you have options,
like frames/no frames, java/no java, etc.
